The type of plastic makes a big difference on how much/how light is reflected. Plastic materials with a higher refractive index (polycarbonate or acrylic), can reflect more light than those with a lower refractive index (polyethylene or polypropylene). Also, many plastic often absorb or scatter light instead of reflecting it.
