Is increasing ISO Gain equivalent to using a larger aperture, both by multiplying the output irradiance with some constant?

kkkhanl

I think they both increase exposure, but are through different physical means and has different other effects, for example increasing ISO would increase digital noise so you wouldn't always want to increase ISO for exposure.

LeslieTrue

Wondering how ISO is measured. I have previous experience manually tuning the ISO of a camera for different scenes i.e. sunny day/night but always mess it up. Hope some photography masters give some insights.

What does ISO stand for?

justin-shao

ISO stands for International Organization of Standards, which in my opinion is quite a non-descriptive name for a term meant to describe "gain".
