It's interesting that for the same concept of derivatives, mathematicians and physicians seems to adopt different sets of notations sometimes. Instead of using a stroke next to the variable, here we use a dot above the variable.

Talking about notation, in my experience, even people in the same field would use different notations depending on where / when they attend college etc.; Let alone physicians vs. mathematicians. This is so confusing for me as a student tbh.
