Taylar expansion is a great way to do such things, but maybe there still have other ways to linearize non-linear system? I'm not sure about that.

I think while Taylor expansion is great theoretical backing, in practice K, C, and M are probably calculated empirically using the physical properties of the materials and the forces acting upon them.
