Color theory is pretty interesting since on a computer, the RGB colors are calculated to be the same on the screen but since our eyes analyze colors based on the intensity of the colors around it, the different pieces which seem different are actually the same color when immediately compared. These color comparisons are due to the color wheel and the composite colors in their comparisons to illustrate the visual differences.

Contextual perception I think is very much a bi-product of the fact that perception in humans is subject to a lot of simplification and "filling stuff in." This process of "fill-in" gives ways to lots of illusions, which can become very interesting if we want to optimize, for instance, framerates to human perception in a video game.
