How effective might a quadratic/exponential falloff weighting be for capturing detail? As in, a box with only one sample enclosed might be much closer to 0-10% brightness than 25%

@mignepo Good question to ask. Please see a detailed comment from me with some relevant points on the previous slide, including pointer to a paper by Mitchell and Netravali in which they analyze the use of cubic weighting functions.
