Some of you may have heard of this as "time domain" and "spectral domain" in EE upperdivs (ik i did) but they are respectively equivalent to spatial and frequency

You can indeed apply a Fourier transform on a temporal signal to study it in its frequency domain. E.g. it's common practice to convert audio to spectrograms.
