Do the physical constrains that these hooks have on the spline have any relation to the mathematical constraints that we use to construct Bezier and other curves? It seems like the hooks are just used to constrain different points along the spline to different positions, and the physical properties of the spline naturally allow it to form a curve. Could we simulate a curve that exactly emulates the behavior of a real spline?
