I find it interesting that the glass ball "lags" behind the rest of the scene in terms of brightness; what I mean by this is that in the initial few bounces it does not appear illuminated, but once it is illuminated, the light coming off of it is brighter than the rest of the scene. I think the reason for this may be the light bouncing inside of the glass.

How many bounces of light are usually worth the extra computation cost? Later bounces don't really contribute as much to the image, what is the usual stopping point?
