Am I understanding this correctly that the detail of the brushing (the microscratches) is driven purely by the material properties applied to the model? Would it then be possible to create a material that in some way is driven by a texture that is applied to the model (so you'd be using both, say in a metal sign?).

@pranavkolluri that seems like a super interesting question, but not totally sure if I completely understand the distinction between what is applied here, on the microscratched surface, vs your example of the metal sign-- would you mind clarifying? I think it would probably help me gain more of an understanding of the topic if I could get a better grasp on what exactly the question is asking!
