I find these images super helpful in understanding why the layering of lens is useful! But what is the mm referring to in these cases? (Radius, thickness, aperture?)

Ren briefly mentioned movies and special effects (because they might want to simulate multiple lenses and not use the ideal lens model). I would be interested in learning how special effects work, i.e. how they tie together computer graphics with real world photos/videos. It seems almost like AR in the sense that computer graphics objects are placed into the real world, but I think the technology is much older than AR so I'm not sure.

i believe the measurement here is focal length - higher focal length in the telephoto is what leads to a relatively narrow viewing angle and relatively minimal perspective effects, while the small focal length of the fisheye lens leads to a large angle of view (we can even see the adjoining wall) and extreme perspective distortion
