It is interesting that we are seeing an increase in lens size in recent iPhones, which could be trying to overcome the physical limitations of small lenses.

That's a great point @jinweiwong. It strikes me that a lot of the entire field of graphics seems to be about tradeoffs. For example, the traedeoffs in terms of compute overhead vs highly accurate/sharp rasterization, sampling, etc. This seems to be no different. I wonder if there is some sort of Moore's law as well- like there's diminishing returns at some point of each incremental adjustment in lens size. Just food for thought!
