Looking at this slide, I wonder what factors influence the choice of f-number for a given photographic situation, and how does the selection of f-number impact the resulting image?

On the subject, one thing I found online was that a large F-number would correspond to a smaller aperture diameter, which would allow less light in, so using a lens with a high F-number is beneficial if taking pictures in bright surroundings with a lot of light, and a lens with a small F-number is beneficial for low-light photography.
