Lecture 17: Physical Simulation (45)

The galaxy seems very foggy in the image, so I wonder how fog is rendered, or what is the reflective/refractive nature of fog?

@ MichaelYu15 I found your question really interesting and searched about it. It seems rendering fog involves simulating the interaction of light with particles suspended in the air. Fog is typically composed of tiny water droplets or ice crystals, and its appearance seems to depends on how light interacts with these particles.

It's interesting to simulate the fog. From the information I obtained, there's a technique called Volumetric Fog, which entitizes the fog as a three-dimensional entity through which light scatters. In the sampling process, also involves sampling the fog density and integrating it into the final light/color computation.
