For some reason, this diagram sort of reminds me of a double pendulum. However, double pendulums are known to be INCREDIBLY complex, with a small amount of change in the swing for one of the pendulums resulting in a very huge change in the whole system. However, since this system in the slides is NOT affected by gravity (so therefore we don't need to use that much information about pendulums it's period), it will possibly make the system much more simpler (I hope).
