Does anybody know the particular reason so many models are saved in T poses like this? I remember it being a meme a while back, but I always thought there would be a more efficient way to store models than in a pose like this.

This was such an interesting question because I realized that I didn’t know the answer- here’s what I found from a blogpost (so perhaps not the most credible source? But the logic checks out):
It was interesting to me that rigging the model this way with axis-aligned arms had benefits. I assumed it was a purely visual decision that allowed the model to display all parts physically to the animator/creator. Super interesting stuff!
