I remember seeing these illusions on instagram and now that I understand the magic behind it, it makes so much more sense. I also went stargazing this past weekend and something this reminds me of is how when you look at white like and look through the telescope, it's harder to see the stars because your visions is kind of blurred. However, my friend told me that using red light prevents this effect. Does that has to do anything with this?
