@pranavkolluri yes, I believe that is what this section is discussing. This particular slide is saying that if you simply repeat (tile) a texture then you will get weird edges where the texture is discontinuous.

I wonder if texture synthesis allows us to look at how the colors are distributed in the image and expand that. As a result, there would need to be more medium shades of the color needed to be placed.
