Refangs

One thing that I'm curious about, for most situations I would assume that techniques that are much more efficient like mipmap would be used to antialias images, but would supersampling ever be used? For example if you wanted to have a really high quality antialiased image that doesn't need to be rerendered based off input changes.

Why do the blue lines in this grid look very blurry in the 512x supersampling but not in the high-res reference? I would assume that given a high enough sample rate, the supersample should almost match the quality of the reference. Also, visually, the supersampling seems to be a different shade of blue than that of the reference but I'm not sure if that's the case in the reference.
