I think it would be interesting to see more details or if there is a quicker heuristic for determining the best kind of hierarchy. Unless I'm misunderstanding, it seems like you have to develop A BVH hierarchy with a chosen split method, test its cost, then compare to other calculated split methods. It would be nice if we didn't have to make a hierarchy before testing it
