I am wondering if these two different geometries of R,G,B sub-pixels will produce slightly different colors as we perceive.

Building off of wcyjames's comment, I wonder what is the difference between types of screens (e.g. OLED screens) and if they are using the same principles.

@wcyjames Yes it does make a difference. This is related to the field of subpixel rendering (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subpixel_rendering). I'd recommend taking a look at the examples of the bottom to see how we can use the actual colors at the lowest levels and render low-resolution images.
