This reminds me of how artists have played around with frequencies in their art pieces. Dali depicted Lincoln's portrait in such a unique style that it could be noticed from afar but not close by (actually one would see a nude standing by the window in Dali's Lincoln in Dalivision). This is because the woman is depicted with high-frequency patterns which are hard to notice. In the famous painting Mona Lisa, it is also said that there are multiple frequencies around the smile so that the women seemed smiling only from the left side.
