This picture illustrates Microfacet Theory. At the microscale, the waves of the ocean are bumpy and specular. However, at the macroscale the waves act as flat and rough. This is why the lighting looks so glossy on the water from far away.

I'm wondering how the microfacet output would differ where the reflection of the sun is very glossy and where it is not so glossy. Does simply increasing the amount of incident light result in this effect?
