Not directly related, but this reminds me of the concept of singularities at infinity in complex analysis, and particularly how one can generate a mapping from any point on a sphere to any point in the infinite 2D plane, in order to study said behavior. This idea of projection and tracing "rays" from the sphere (called the Riemann sphere) to the plane feels very similar to some of the perspective/projection/magnification concepts introduced in this class. Are there any links?
