Is there a significance behind the emerald and white colors chosen in RGB+E and RGB+W? I'm curious why E would result in a "wider color gamut" whereas W would result in a "higher dynamic range". Does the idea behind RGB+W have to do with the fact that pure white is out of gamut for RGB lights, and that representing a white component explicitly could help with HDR?
