Jaggies appear to me to be a consequence of using the standard basis. Would it be possible to use a grid of equilateral triangles instead of squares? I guess using a grid of squares is the most convenient in terms of manufacturing the individual pixels.

@AlbertScribblenaut if the screen is tessellated with triangle pixels instead of squares, would jaggies still appear along edges oriented at some angles?

How about if the 4 equilateral triangles are averaged down into 1 square pixel? Ren will talk about averaging multiple samples per pixel next week - you might be onto something!
