I'm not quite sure I understand what 4D light fields help with. Is there a reason we can't represent the photo using the methods we've come up with? What are the benefits and drawbacks of the methods we learned that make us come to the conclusion of having to use 4D light Fields?

Super cool to see the representation on the right breakdown the complexity of the diagram on the left. It makes it a lot easier to understand how the sensor plane and lens plane work in a 4D light field.
