Why does the spatial domain lose its color when filtering out the low frequencies of the edges?

@maleny25 the low frequencies of an image are the parts that vary at a slower rate, so this is usually the base color or parts of an image where things do not change as much. When we filter out low frequencies, we are left with the edges. Since this image was black and white originally, we are just left with grayscale edges.
