I was curious about how perspective evolved in other societies and to learn more about the development of perspective in Western art and stumbled across this fascinating article, which discusses the evolution of perspective in the West and in parts of the East (actually, it discusses why Chinese art did not evolve perspective, as the particular landscapes painted by Chinese artists had little need for precise perspective):
