I want to know: 1) How the reflections on the plates are calculated. 2) How the "almost transparent" glasses are rendered? 3) How the wines or other liquids are rendered.

I want to know how are the light reflected and calculated, and does it uses snells law in Physics? I also wonders how the shadow are computed or even rendered? And lastly wonders how to render the blurry section on the top right?

I want to know how the light and each image's shadows (ex: wrinkles on the napkin) be computed? How can the liquid (in the cup and coffee) be properly rendered? How can reflections appear in the coffee cup?

I want to do know firstly how the images through the liquids were calculated. This seems like it would be difficult to do because I believe it depends based on the liquid and light going through any liquid can look very weird (like when you put a pencil in a glass and it looks wavy). I also want to know how the reflections on the cups and plates were calculated. I would imagine it's sort of a reflection of the room around that we can't see from the camera. Finally, I would want to know how the shadows were computed. I would imagine we have to define some points of light for us to go off of with this.

I want to know how to compute the light refraction of the liquid in the wine glass, the reflective materials, and the subsurface features of the grapes.

A few visual features I'd like to know how to compute are:

  1. Reflections in the glass, ceramic, metal, etc. — since different materials reflect light differently, it seems like it would be pretty complicated to handle all of these cases. I wonder how many "types" of materials are supported
  2. The amount of blurring in each region of the image, which gives a fairly realistic sense of depth
  3. The different textures, such as the "sponginess" of the cake and the glossy texture of the egg tart

The 3 visual features I would like to know how to compute are:

  • The way the shadows form from the icing, spoons, etc
  • How light seems to recursively reflect off of the tea plate onto the tea cup and to the viewer.
  • How different textures work, for example the smoothness of the grape and the stickiness of the tart.

I'm curious about how:

  • The liquid in the glass bends the napkin behind it
  • How one could avoid rendering artifacts when rendering something like the egg tart, where texture seems to be so dense and vary so much
  • How one can decide where to place the light source, and how we can code "placing" a light source to given with

The rendering of the grapes seems to be a little bit off as the grapes look too perfect. The density change inside the grape is not shown, making the texture of the grape skin resembles that of jade.

I am interested in 1) how refraction is calculated for the cup of tea and for the glass on the left 2) for reflections, how do we determine the coefficients representing the brightness and color etc? Is it by calculation or some sort of measurement?

I'm interested in how do we keep track of the surrounding environment and take it into account when doing reflection, the two cups in the picture not only reflect each other, items in the pictures, but also the surrounding environment, how is that possible to integrate everything into 1 piece?

For me, the 3 most interesting visual features in this image are 1) the way that the image behind the glass of orange liquid on the right is distorted in the orange liquid, 2) the way that the spottiness of the highlighted area on the yellow custard shows the texture of the custard to the eye, and 3) the way that the glossiness on the opaque mugs seem to come from the way that the surface reflects the parts of the scene around it, and how this differs from the glossiness of the transparent glass
