Doing graphics for a game like this seems like a really interesting case because instead of trying to imitate the way things look in real life, you are imitating a particular art style. This for example looks like a painting, so you want everything to match what that looks like. I wonder how the game development process varies for something like this, as the basic engine probably wont make things look like this style.
