how does light really work? because in this image on the left it appears that as you get further from the light source the light is less, but in a ray the light is constant to infinity across a ray. I know light is a wave, and therefore can be concentrated and all, so the 2nd image makes sense to me, but the first and 3rd seem to almost contradict each other.

The first one is the light source, where the light come from. The light sorce can emit light towards every direction and the measurement of the strength of light is radiant intensity. the 3rd picture indicates the single light ray, which is a vector with direction.
