This video shows an example of manually crafting keyframes and then putting constraints on the control points for Bezier interpolation between those keyframes.

Do we generally use Bezier curves or B-splines for our basis function on the bottom left? The prof mentioned we usually use one of those two for the basis functions Bj(t)B_j(t) but didn't say when one would be a better basis choice over the other.

Considering that the B-splines are cheaper, I'm guessing that the cheaper option would be used.
