I wonder if the ray bundles converge to different positions if there is low depth and its hard to decipher what the focus point should be. In edge cases like this, good cameras probably focus but they make an "educated guess." Would be cool to know more about this.

How would this autofocus feature work in mirrorless camera settings? Would the rays go directly through the main lens to the microlenses?
