Lecture 15: Cameras & Lenses (178)

It is really interesting to see the underlying datapath of a camera. Beyond this, I wonder how intricate its embedded system/operating is (or for that matter, whether it is an os or an es). I feel like it could benefit from AI/computational photography. I also wonder how the camera is built so that its electronics don't get in the way with the very space-consuming lenses, as discussed in last lecture.

Given that phase detection AF is not used in live view or video recording due to the mirror being up and blocking the AF sensor, how do alternative autofocus systems like contrast detection or on-sensor phase detection in mirrorless cameras compare in terms of focusing speed and accuracy, especially in dynamic situations like sports or wildlife photography?
