I think using the same sized grid for the entire space might be inefficient (for example deep water is way less dynamic compared to surface water).

@tom5079 Yes. In fact we can use sparse grids for fluid simulation. And a highly efficient software called OpenVDB, which provides fast sparse grids and toolkits, is used widely in production.
