It is really interesting to see Toy Story being the first CG animated film and how far CG films have come. As a Pixar film, I do wonder how they were able to reach this level of animation and progress it so quickly. It's also fun to know that Pixar is pretty close to campus in Emeryville!

It's really interesting how our standards for realism/3D animation have changed over the years. Have humans become better at noticing these details (like global raycasting) as we've been exposed to 3D rendering?

Fun fact- part of the reason that Pixar decided to have their first feature film be Toy Story was because the realism aspect of humans (hair, eyes) were not up to par, but fit "toys", so it was achievable.
