Or stop motion! I like to use the app Stop Motion Studio. Which provides a basic but super supportive (for being free) setup to animate frame by frame by drawing on anything, lining up the last photo, and then taking a snap shot where is strings it together for you (it offers a lot of editing flexibility too).
