I interned at PlayStation last summer and I got to see one of these spherically-arranged set of cameras up close and in person. The one I saw was much larger than this because it is meant to fit a whole person inside the sphere. This technology is used for the video game 'The MLB Show'. The sphere is dismantled and put together again in different cities where the team of players for that city can stand in the sphere for a minute and get their photo taken from every angle. The images are then used to make their respective avatars in the game so that the avatar is as true to their likeness as possible. Just thought I'd share a real-life use of this technology in industry today!
