Noise seems to be the effect of a preventable issue in the manufacturing process here. Something to explore might be how technological advancements in manufacturing, rather than lens or sensor science might have advanced camera technology.

Just wanted to make some clarifications after reading this article. Dark current is basically caused by thermal electrons created on the pixels due to excitations from energy. Hot pixels are basically just pixels with higher than average dark currents. I think this is because when there is a manufacturing defect the electrons generated get stuck and leak into the well. It basically describes how dark current noise is also just the square root of the dark current similar to shot noise.
