Ren said texture mapping can be used to correct distortion, like the curved appearance of masks on a ship due to a curved lens in a photograph. My understanding is that here, the distorted image itself acts as the texture. Then, instead of mapping a simple rectangle on the screen, we map a "bent grid" onto the distorted image. This means each square of the grid gets mapped to a specific, distorted area of the image. By applying the distorted image (texture) with the "bent grid" mapping, we essentially corrects the distortion. It's like the bends cancel
