The really cool thing about having this kind of information is that you now have knowledge of depth, and can simulate changing the aperture and other camera settings after the photo has already been taken. However, I guess the tradeoff is that the 2D array of cameras is quite expensive, and for cameras that encapsulates this in one device, you sacrifice the resolution of the image.
