I've used Canon's 50mm f/1.2 in some photography work I did a few years ago. I really enjoyed the images that lens produced, but it definitely came at a cost! It was an extremely heavy lens and it was difficult to focus, given how thin the depth of field was. However, when the conditions were right, it produced some incredible images.
I've noticed that some photographers really like to obsess over the f-stop of their lenses (myself included); however, there are a lot of other real world considerations to make when deciding which lens to use! I ended up selling that lens in favor of one that was more reliable in the field.
