I'm taking the UCBUGG decal here at Cal for the first time this semester, and in class, they have recently gone over rigging models! I definitely recommend this decal to classmates if this is a concept they're interested in and would like to have hands-on experience in animation. Here is a resource to look at: http://ucbugg.com/static/index.html#labsrigging1

Here's a quick video demoing facial rigging from Sony Pictures Imageworks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1epCXLpyzM8. While watching animations, I never really noticed how different facial feature movements were between different characters. Now I can see how rigging contributes a lot to character expression.
