Metamers seem to be a very important concept to displaying colors on a display since real world colors could cover a vast range of different possibilities. However, given certain types of hardware this vast range can't be entirely expressed. However, the human eye can't distinguish the difference between metamers which makes producing colors on a display much simpler.
