For the 5D case, we ignore time and wavelength to focus on just the spatial structure of light (see the slides from lecture 25).
To truly emulate reality, we'd definitely need time; however, I believe it's something we can abstract and add back in later due to its slightly tangential relationship to how we see the world (we can only see one period of time at a time).
