Are there cases why we would use a combination of quad meshes and triangle meshes? I can understand that there are certain situations where one type of mesh would be significantly better than the other, but what exactly is the advantage of a quad mesh over a triangle mesh and could these be used together to better represent a surface?

From a 3D modeling standpoint, sometimes it is difficult to make the mesh entirely quad-based, and we have a couple of triangles in a quad-dominated mesh.
