I thought it would be interesting to bring up Nvidia's recent RTX technology as an example of modern ray tracing acceleration. You can read more about it here: https://www.pcgamer.com/what-is-ray-tracing/ tl;dr RTX technology leverages hardware acceleration via Tensor cores to run their graphics AI/ML algorithms even faster, which ultimately results in quality, real time ray tracing.

@tyleryath I agree with your idea, I am also a fan of RTX technologies. The basic idea is that use ray tracing to generate a low resolution pictures then use Deep Learning algorithms like DLSS or other super sampling methods to scale up the image resolution.
